DIVIDE COUNTY LIBRARY BOARD MEETING – December 11, 2024
Meeting called to order by Mr. Nelson at 5:16 p.m. Board members present: Commissioner Isaac Jacobs, Nate Nelson, Mike Melgaard, Rita Stewart, Carol Williams, and Library Director Traci Lund.
Minutes from the September 4, 2024 meeting were reviewed. Motion to approve the minutes made by Mr. Jacobs, seconded by Ms. Stewart. Motion carried.
Financials: There are a few bills outstanding. Traci estimates the library will be 7% to 8% below budget. 1% to 2% under budget in salaries. There is an error on the financial report presented. The $5,000 for Dollywood Foundation should be in miscellaneous. This will be corrected. Petty cash which is used for mailing books is maxed out. Mailings will resume in 2025.
Librarian’s Report: Ms. Lund attended the NDLA conference and sat in on some legislative sessions. Ms. Lund won Librarian of the Year. She did podcasts with Dalyss Hanson’s Swim Lessons and State Librarian Mary Soucie, Pathways Through the Prairie. The bookfair was huge this year bringing in $2,330.28 in Scholastic dollars. The school will be installing a camera in the library.
Old Business: Renovation Update – All the furniture has arrived. In honor of Gavyn Dimmick, the new STEM closet has been named Gavyn’s Gadgets.
New Business: The library received a $2,500 grant from Oneok that is being used to buy totes and additional items for the STEM Closet. A matching $2,500 grant from New Century Ag and $2,500 grant from Seeds for Stewardship will be used towards the Dolly Parton’s Library. DC library has not heard back from the Glenn Perkins Grant which was written for copier maintenance, chairs, and new signage. An annual review of the Library Director was discussed. The board opted to not proceed with a formal review process at this time. Part-time employees will fill in when needed. This will be on an informal, if available and needed basis.
