DIVIDE COUNTY LIBRARY BOARD MEETING – December 11, 2023
Meeting was called to order by Mr. Nelson at 5:30 p.m. Board members present: Mike Melgaard, Nate Nelson, Rita Stewart, Carol Williams, Isaac Jacobs, and Library Director Traci Lund.
Minutes from the September 27, 2023 meeting were reviewed and approved.
End of the year financials reviewed. Salaries are about 6% over budget. This is due to hiring a full-time employee. Telephone and insurance also increased. Other categories are below budget.
Librarians’ report: Two new collections have been added – Decodable books for young readers and elementary bilingual books. The Library’s Employee Handbook will be reviewed by Ms. Lund and Ms. Williams.
Old Business: DPI Grant has been received. New carpet and shelving will be installed in summer 2024. ODIN training for cataloging books will be December 27, 2023. The Scholastic Book Fair was a success taking in $4,116.65 to be spent on expanding the book collection.
New Business: The library received $13,000 from the John & Elaine Andrist Grant to purchase S.T.E.A.M. activities and help with renovation costs. Coordinating Council Grants will also be applied for to assist in purchasing furniture and completing the renovations. Discussion about security cameras and audio recording devices. Discussed ways to dispose of the old book shelves.
