Divide County Library Board Meeting Minutes
January 14, 2026
Meeting called to order by Rita Stewart at 5:16 p.m.
Present: Isaac Jacobs, Rosemary Tanberg, Rita Stewart, and Library Director Traci Lund.
Absent: Nate Nelson and Shane Gunlock
Public Comment: No public comments were received.
Approval of Minutes: Minutes from December 3, 2025, were approved (motion by Jacobs, second by Tanberg).
Financial Report: The Board reviewed the end-of-year 2025 financial statements. It was noted that the new fiscal year budget began this month.
Librarian’s Report: Library Director Traci Lund reported that prior to the next board meeting, she will be attending a webinar related to the Public Library Survey and State Aid, both of which open in February. She will complete and submit all required reports to ensure the library remains in compliance for receiving State Aid and state-funded grants.
Old Business –
1000 Books before Kindergarten program: All program materials have been ordered, and marketing efforts have begun. Once materials arrive, additional outreach will continue to enroll children ages 0–5 from the community.
Employees: Megan’s last scheduled day is Friday. If possible following maternity leave, Traci plans to offer her the opportunity to return to assist the library.
Glenn Perkins Grant: The Divide County Library was awarded its full grant request of $10,000 for books, summer reading programming, technology, and display units. Additionally, the Glenn Perkins Foundation awarded an extra $6,600 designated for books.
The School District, under Traci Lund’s guidance, also received a $132,000 grant to renovate the High School Library, along with an additional $6,600 for books. The Board agreed this initiative benefits the community.
George Phelps Estate: Traci reported that she has spoken with George Phelps multiple times. George indicated he will be sending two cashier’s checks to benefit the library.
New Business –
Election of Officers: Jacobs nominated Mr. Nate Nelson as President, Ms. Stewart as Vice President, Mr. Gunlock as Secretary. Tanberg second it, All present voted in favor.
Meeting adjourned at 5:46 p.m. (motion by Tanberg, second by Jacobs).
