DIVIDE COUNTY LIBRARY BOARD MEETING – September 23, 2021
Cynthia Bummer called the Divide County Library Board meeting to order at 5:05 PM. The following board members were present: Cynthia Bummer, Marissa Ratcliff-Cox, Commissioner Tim Selle, Krista Verlinde, Carol Williams and Traci Lund, Librarian.
A motion to approve the May 19, 2021 board meeting minutes as presented was made by Krista Verlinde and seconded by Tim Selle. Motion passed.
Financials- Review of financials. Below budget, as usual.
Librarian’s Report
Inventory is completed.
COVID-19 report
NDLA Conference will be held in Grand Forks October 4 through October 8, 2021.
Storytime remains in person and is going well. As the winter weather rolls in outreach to the Crosby Kids Daycare will become more favorable.
A basket donation for Don Nielsen’s benefit is being assembled.
Old Business
Reviewed updated Circulation Policy. Motion to approve Circulation Policy Update as presented made by Krista Verlinde and seconded by Marissa Ratcliffe. Ayes: Cynthia Bummer, Marissa Ratcliff-Cox, Commissioner Tim Selle, Krista Verlinde, Carol Williams. Nays: none Motion passed.
New Business
ND State Library Grant for Local History. Traci Lund will write grant for $10,000 for oral history project to be done by Tierany Johnson with the cooperation and assistance of local community members.
Microfilm Machine has not been used for a long time. Papers have all been digitalized. Will donate to Historical Society.
Juneteenth has been made a federal holiday. Motion made by Cynthia Bummer to recognize Juneteenth Day as it is a federal holiday. Seconded by Carol Williams.
The following policies and procedures were presented and reviewed: Display and Distribution Policy Update, Reconsideration Policy, and Lock Down Procedures. Motion made by Tim Selle to approve all three policies and procedures as presented. Seconded by Krista Verlinde. Ayes: Cynthia Bummer, Marissa Ratcliff-Cox, Commissioner Tim Selle, Krista Verlinde, Carol Williams Nays: None Motion passed.
Scholastic Book Fair will be in person in October.
In the spirt of the library being more than books, the library will apply for Operation Round Up grant funded by Burke-Divide Electric Cooperative members to bring a Chess program from Bismarck for a two day event.
